The tiny capital of Malta, the city measures less than 1 sq km, has a lot to offer visitors. Valletta has been described as one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world, thanks to its 7,000 years of history. No wonder, the City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980. Built by the knight of St John in the 16th and 17th centuries for its military and strategic reasons, Valletta was later embellished into a fine example of baroque decorative art – most notably in the magnificent interiors of St John’s Co-Cathedral in the heart of the city. Shady atmospheric alleyways link grand squares, and glorious palazzi sit alongside bars and shop. Lately, the city has undergone some major changes to create a more vibrant urbanity, with the renovation of the main City Gate and the design of a new parliament building, as well as the renovation of the bombed-out Opera House. Valletta's natural deep water port, the Grand Harbour, is the biggest and the most impressive harbour in all the Mediterranean and was, for many thousands of years, the epicentre of Malta’s maritime activity. Proof of this are the 19 historical warehouses still stand dating back 250 years and the historic Quay Wall, where the Knights of St John and European merchants used to unload their wares. The Valletta Waterfront is also the gateway to Malta’s capital city. In fact, as one of the most successful Mediterranean ports, the Port of Valletta welcomes more than half-a-million cruise passengers into this open air museum. Cagliari is pure Mediterranean essence, and it expresses it in every corner, in every bite of its delicious cuisine. Sardinian’s capital is located in the southern part of the island and it’s the political, economic and cultural centre. It has Roman ruins of great value, as the Amphitheatre and many testimonies of Cagliari’s priceless historical heritage. It's an easy city to get around on foot, where you can get lost in the narrow streets that shape the old town located in the upper part of the city and surrounded by fortifications. Strolling around the Castello district, the living heart and memory of the city, visitors will encounter the Cathedral with its adjacent museum, the Royal Palace and countless churches. A nice staircase leads to the bastion St. Remy. From its terrace you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the city. There is an excellent beach in the city, Spiaggia Poetto, an 8km long full equipped beach, perfect to get tanned, swim and chill out. And at nigh it becomes a nightlife hot spot, with clubs, cocktail bars and restaurants. Cagliari is definitely a top tourist destination, one of the most interesting in Sardinia and in Italy.

Considered one of the oldest cities in Spain and Europe, this cosmopolitan port is buoyantly modern yet it hangs on to its vast historic past. The palm-lined Paseo el Parque will take you below Alcazaba, a Moorish palace whose fortified walls enclose fragrant gardens and an archaeological museum. The lofty Gibralfaro Castle crowns a nearby hill, with outstanding views of the sprawling city below. Also worth a visit is the Picasso Museum that, aside from an impressive artistic patrimony, offers educational activities and cultural events. Málaga deserves a good night visit: do not miss a good walk along the harbour where traditional fried fish is washed down with cold beer at chiringuitos (beach bars) and enjoy the illuminated Alcazaba, which watches over the city from Mount Gibralfaro.

At Franklin Court we find the Christ Church Burial Ground, another famous landmark, where Ben Franklin and four other signers of the Declaration of Independence were laid to rest. The Congress Hall was home of the first Congress. On top of that, George Washington and John Adams were inaugurated here, and the Bill of Rights was ratified right inside. Philadelphia's most famous attraction, the Liberty Bell was rung to commemorate the hearing of the Declaration of Independence on 1776. The Bell weighs 2,000 pounds, which may not be apparent by looking at it. Philadelphia is a spectacular city to visit. It is welcoming and loaded with history and has a great mixture of old and new and of historic and modern. There are many sites, restaurants, clubs, and museums to keep you busy, along with several open space parks dotting the centre and, of course, the rivers, which add to the serenity of this vibrant city.
